What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a way of addressing your unconscious mind and bringing about change.

While you are relaxed in a hypnotized state, your unconscious mind is open to suggestions, which can make it easier for you to achieve your aim, whether it be to stop smoking or be more confident when you are speaking in public.

What are your hypnotherapy qualifications?

I am a clinical hypnotherapist, with a Practitioner Diploma in Hypnotherapy from the London College of Hypnosis and seven years experience in practice.

Prior to qualifying as a hypnotherapist, I worked in manufacturing for many years, gaining a full understanding of the world of business and management, which enables me to help companies as well as individuals.

I’m also qualified as a Brennan Healer and a Shamanic Healer.

Are you a member of your professional body?

Yes, I am a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and follow their code of conduct.

How does hypnotherapy work?

The first part of any hypnotherapy session is to discuss why you are here and what you hope to achieve.

We will also discuss your medical history, general health and any other relevant information. Then, I will guide you into a deeply relaxed state, but one in which you will still have awareness and control.

How many sessions will I need?

This is different for everyone, and also depends on the issue being dealt with, however, hypnotherapy is a highly specific approach and I will always try and help you in as few sessions as possible. For example, most simple phobias can usually be dealt with between 1-3 visits. More complex concerns can take some time.

Most sessions are one-to-one in my practice, but I can also work over Skype.

Results are usually long-term, or permanent.

Does everyone respond to hypnotherapy?

While individual responses vary, the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis estimates that 85% of people will respond to a clinical hypnotherapist.

Motivated people who are confident that hypnotherapy will help usually respond best.

Can I be made to do something I don’t want to do while I am hypnotized?

No clinical hypnotherapist would ever ask you to do anything against your will, but it may reassure you to know that even when you are hypnotized you cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do.

You also cannot be hypnotized against your will.

Does hypnotherapy always work?

Hypnotherapy sessions are resolution driven, but when working with psychological manifestations, results can never be ‘guaranteed’ by any practitioner.

The number of visits and the speed of response can vary according to individual circumstance.
